Moong Dal Halwa
A favorite Indian sweet made with yellow lentils , milk , sugar and nuts. Having a dessert after meal is a tradition of Indian cuisine . This halwa just melt in your mouth , its creamy , nuty flavour will make yor day for sure.
Moong Dal Halwa from the states of Rajasthan , as Rajasthani thaali is famous in all over India , this halwa will give you perfect example of that thaali.
Ingredients-
- 1/2 cup husked green lentils (dhuli moong ki dal ) soaked in water for 5-6 hours.
- 1 cup khoya
- 1/2 cup ghee
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups water
- 1/4 tsp powdered cardamon ( chhoti elaichi)
- 1 cup dry fruits ( chopped , roasted)
Preparations-
- Make a smooth paste of dal in a blender. Avoid using water.
- Take a pan and heat the ghee.
- Now add dal paste and keep stirring it when it gets golden
- Now add khoya , milk and cook it for 5 minutes
- Then add sugar & water , stir it until halwa gets thick.
- Add chopped nuts and mix it for 2-3 minutes
- Garnish it with crushed pistachios and almond (optional).
Note-
If you want to make instant halwa , you just simply wash the dal and roast it until it get crispy. After that you follow the above process to make halwa.
